This week Frankfurt celebrated a really important and fascinating event: the Luminale.
This event takes place in the evening, during the days of the Light + Building exhibition at the Messe and gathers many people going around for the city chasing and spotting lights.
We were one of those of course, and, despite the icy wind, exploring the city on this occasion has been a lot of fun!
In front of the Messe there was one of the installations I preferred, a sort of multidimensional star changing colors continuously, characteristic that could keep you watching it enchanted for several minutes, taking as many pictures as you were standing in front of the Chicago Bean.
Moving forward we passed the central railway station with its luminous cube reacting to acoustic inputs and we reached the Willy Brandt Platz, widely well known for accomodating the Alte Oper and the headquarters of the "old" European Central Bank, now dominating the river from the Ostend.
The amount of people around was quite impressive, and even more impressive was actually the amount of photographers wildly taking pictures with every kind of tripods and lenses you've ever seen. Totally understandable since I was trotting around like a child in a Luna-park trying to take the best shots I could.
And considering being a novice I'm quite proud of some pictures I took, that I like quite a lot.
Losing the battle with the cold and transforming more and more into ice cubes, althought there would have been a lot more to explore, we began to head home.
Old lights, new lights, Frankfurt revealed itself as a city always worth exploring. And it doesn't matter if you end up always at the same bridge, at the same spot on the river, there will always be a particular light, a particular cloud, a particular person, even if it's just you.
