The beauty of Yosemite

This is getting posted with way too much delay.

On the bright side, writing this gave me the opportunity to go though the photos that I had taken in the Yosemite National Park and dream again.

Our stay in Yosemite was definitely two short. We stayed only 3 days and walked more than 40km in the park, but I feel we saw just so little!

We arrived on Wednesday 31 June afternoon. The weather was a bit gloomy, so we took the chance to roam around the valley and to set up our tent. And to go to bed early, since for the next day we had quite a few hikes planned; start: 6 AM.

This is indeed the list of walks we did on 1 June, except for North Dome. The weather had gotten so beautiful that we couldn't have asked better.

The hikes went more or less smooth, but when going up to Eagle Peak we encountered some difficulties.

In winter Yosemite has very high levels of snow, and it does take a while for it to be completely melted. And even when melted, it takes a while for paths to be dry and to be cleaned up by rangers.

All this on 1 June 2017 of course hadn't happened, so we had to deal with disappearing paths, walking on snow and on fallen branches to avoid improvised ponds and paddles.

This added about 2 hours to our planning, which going up didn't represent much of a problem, as we were just thinking about reaching the summit and enjoying the view... But on the way down, with the grasp of dusk, it made it slightly more worrying.

No need to say everything was worth it.

The day after we went arounfdto see Brideveil Fall and did some rock climbing, mostly enjoying the camping life.

On Saturday 2 June it was time to go.

While driving out of the park at 10 AM, passing El Capitan, we still didn't know that just a few hours before Alex Honnold was finishing free soloing that beautiful line. So much respect for these humans.

We were planning going up Glacier Point, which was sadly impossible because of traffic jams and cars overload. I am really glad we arrived to the park during the week instead of the weekend, because the line of cars trying to enter the park was unimaginable. This is a know issue, especially for the U and V shaped national parks, but when nature calls...

I cannot wait to go back, hopefully soon.
